LEDs on Metal 

Light-emitting diodes or LEDs are currently typically manufactured on single-crystal sapphire wafers of 4 and 6-inch size. The single-crystal substrate is needed to deposit high-quality epitaxial layers of GaN and other related materials. iBeam Materials has developed a patented alternative process that allows one to deposit epi-GaN directly (without transfer) on many different substrates including thin, flexible metal foil.

Our new process for GaN-on-Metal foil (called GANOX where X can be metal, glass or other substrates) enables roll-to-roll manufacturing of LEDs and other LED products by enabling direct printing and integration of LEDs.
